Align Efforts. Get Results.

It is essential to recognize opportunities to align Patient Family Education (PFE) efforts across the health system. This begins with understanding what is in place in one’s health system. Specifically, these are the committees, councils, people, systems and process intended to support PFE.  Important questions to ask: What resources are in place? Are these resources working in parallel? Who is leading the work and how is it strategically tied to the Health Systems priorities.

This is the infrastructure that supports content development, oversight, provision of education, policies/procedures, evaluation, tracking and monitoring outcomes. A well designed health system PFE policy incorporates the PFE framework then clarifies expectations, roles and responsibilities. It also ties in the committees, settings and reporting accountabilities.
